You won’t find this place on any “World’s Best Beaches” list, but this invariably deserted stretch of sand in the far north-west corner of the Scottish Highlands is high up on my list. It’s a four-mile walk from the nearest road, so you have to earn it! A local spotted a mermaid on the rocks there in 1900, it’s that good!’

I’m biased here as Land Rover is a sponsor, but I currently drive a 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged Range Rover Autobiography and it’s sublime. It has the power and capability to go almost anywhere, with a level of luxury that feels surreal at times. It’s a brilliant example of British design, engineering and craftsmanship.’
